With a unique historical legacy at the service of national agriculture since 1926, Ascenza Agro, S.A. (‘Ascenza Agro’) has been operating since 2019 as part of the Rovensa group, a leader in sustainable solutions at a global level, namely in the field of crop protection. With a mission to feed the planet, Rovensa works to: develop agronomic products and concepts to improve the quality and yield of crops; provide sustainable and personalised solutions; support the health and care of plants throughout the agronomic cycle; contribute to the sustainability of global agriculture and the productivity of soils and food. Ascenza Agro stands out for being the only national player in the production of plant protection products, with a significant industrial structure in Setúbal, based on Research, Development and Innovation (‘RDI’). In 2020, Ascenza Agro achieved a volume of 70% exports, employing a workforce of over 500 employees. Rovensa, in general, and Ascenza Agro, in particular, intend to position themselves as very important economic agents for the realisation of the ambitious European strategic objectives underlying the European Green Deal, towards a healthier and more sustainable European food system, in line with the Prado ao Prato strategy.
